Exclamation EGR + CD Player

Hey guys,

I forgot my old username and password and email so i had to make another one to ask the experts.

I'm experiencing a lot of problems with my EGR Flow Insufficient. Code - P0401 I removed the valve, the vacuum is fine, everything seems to be working correctly, i cleaned it and put it back on and drove for about 3 days and my check engine light came on again, it's the same problem. I don't know what to do from here, I don't know if it's the sensor, or what's causing the problems. If anybody is experiencing the same problems or have before please let me know, i know they wanted 300$ down at the shop, Hell to the no.

And on top of this, my cd player is going whack, it was perfect, and now it runs for about 15-20mins then the disc just gets really hot, and skips, and skips, and doesn't stop skipping unless I take it out and put it back in 4-5 times. and also when i turn right, it seems to skip more, i dont know if its a voltage issue or what, maybe some wiring is showing causing it to do something, i have no clue, electronics will do crazy things at random times.

My battery is fine, alternator is fine. stock cd player, 17k miles, 2001 ford ranger xlt 4.0L 4x4

I believe PO 401 deals with the DPFE sensor. I had the same issue with mine a little while ago. Went to the local Ford dealership and got a new sensor (believe it was $75 or so) put it in and game on. As for your stereo, sorry to say it sounds like it's toast

Did you try a new DPFE sensor? A bad sensor will give you the PO 401.

bLinker as far as the Cd Player head unit, you say that you've got a 2000 watt amp running off it. What's to say that its hooked up or should be hooked up with the head unit?
As far as the 401 code, just familiarize yourself with your EGR system by checking out a repair manual. Then you'll know what's all involved, what it does, what vacuum levels are expected, and were everythings located.
