Clutch Neutral Safety switch
The neutral safety on the clutch rod has been acting up, click click , unless mash the clutch to the floor, no adjustment clip.
Can I simply bypass the switch by pulling the connector off, and putting a 'wire' from one contact to the other? Thanks.

Re: Clutch Neutral Safety switch
You can actually buy a new one.
You can by-pass it. Go to any auto ranger in a junk yard and get the by-pass plug all auto trucks have the plug for the clutch switch and have a loop plug in it

Re: Clutch Neutral Safety switch
Redneckstone, I think I will buy the new switch, can someone help me to understand How To Replace this??
I read about disconnecting the clutch rod from the pedal, but how does the Old switch come Off, and the New one go On?
Many Thanks

Not exactly true. Mine didn't, and all of the 4x2 automatic trucks I've torn through in the junkyard didn't either. But most of the 4x4 automatic trucks did seem to have it.
Removing the rod from the master cylinder is the hardest part. Some people have luck just pulling on it, others wiggle it around until it comes out, and others make tools to depress the clips in the master cylinder in order to remove it.
As for the actual switch, there's a little yellow thing on top of the clutch switch that you probably can't see. That yellow thing has to slide along the switch housing. If you slide it right, the clutch switch should fall off of the master cylinder rod.
Keep in mind that the aftermarket switches from BWD and such aren't made like the factory Ford switches are. They're a bit harder to remove. I just grabbed a bunch from the junkyard for extras. I suggest the same since they're easier to switch out.

Re: Clutch Neutral Safety switch
My auto didn't have the switch when i converted to 5 speed i just straight wired it in loop so it always thinks its in neutral. The under dash loop people talk about really isn't that common.
