Default central locking nightmare

Hey there.

Just purchased a 54 ford ranger xlt. The problem that I am facing is when I go out in the morning and it is locked. When I unlock it with the fob only the indicators flash but the doors dont unlock and when I press the lock button the light flash but the doors don't lock. When I use the key on the drivers or passenger side door to unlock or lock the indicators flash and that particular door locks or unlocks only. I have checked the fuse and that is fine. That is about where my knowledge ends.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thx for the repys.

Where are the actuators, what do they look like. How do you test them.

Do you also know how to get the door panels off I have a double cab.

Thanks

What happens if you use the PDL buttons on the doors? And are these PL's OEM or aftermarket?

*If it was just one door then I'd suspect an actuator, but two doors, that puts a up red flag to check some other items up front.

Hey there.

What are PDL's. It is 4 door "double cab". I might get chance to look at it tomorrow afternoon so I will have a look. Also I found out that if I open the drivers door only with the key take the fuse out for the central locking and put it back in when I put it back in all the doors unlock but that is as far as it goes.

If the doors unlock when you install the fuse, the actuators are fine.

Still need to know the model year and if the PDL's (defined correctly) are OEM or aftermarket, and yes, it could well matter. These two items may matter because of the statement, "When I use the key on the drivers or passenger side door to unlock or lock the indicators flash .....", of which, I have no idea what you're talking about (indicators). Also unanswered is what happens when you try to operate the electric locks with the switches inside the vehicle. Please provide answers to support problem resolution.

I have a 2010 LTX PK Ranger which has had an issue with interior light bulb blowing...I replaced 3 bulbs in the first 14 months of purchase...I have now put in an LED which has lasted for almost a year now...the light is not so great but it is a light...Another issue started 2 days ago on the same circuit as interior light/warning system after driving through a muddy puddle...gets out of car with keys in hand, door opened and the warning sound for keys in ignition sounded until door shut....no the lights weren't on...and then noticed when I locked the doors with FOB the indicators didn't illuminate and same when unlocking although locking worked fine..today all back to normal...seems something may be getting wet or ants but no evidence of ants... I have also had another issue with 4X4 not functioning for 1 year now...went through some mud (I loves a good bash on the mud!!) and then drove through water about 400mm deep a month or so later...since then 4x4 light illuminates randomly and tacho out of whack...never thought too much of it till I got stuck...and only then did I realise 4x4 was not functioning..Ford won't come to the warranty party as they are over 900km away and suggest THEY need to diagnose it...even after I suggested they only need to supply and send me a 4x4 selector motor and I would fit...warranty lapsed now, so me fitting is no issue and suggested if the 4x4 selector motor was not the issue I would continue to fault find at my own expense and not bug them again...

----------

Farmercasey maybe from Australia...indicators are turning signals and FOB is the remote (keyless entry) I don't know what they call them in the US...
