I just replaced the bulb in my third (high center) brake light as it had recently burned out. When I opened up the casing and took the old bulb out, I discovered that not only did it burn out, but it also made a little burn mark on the rubbery socket it plugs into and there was a small blackish burn mark in the plastic casing just under where the bulb was positioned.
My question is... do I need to be concerned about the little burn marks and the fact that the bulb apparently got pretty hot when it burned out?
The new bulb lit up properly after I replaced the old one, so it seems the fuses and wires are okay. (For what it's worth, my cargo lights have never worked since I bought my truck...but I was messing with them the other day attempting to unsuccessfully solve that dilemma.)
