Default running lights dont work...help please.

I recently bought a t connector that would connect to my rear lights and then give a wire for my trailer lights. http://www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Wiri...vehicleid=1999 I hooked it all up and plugged in my boat lights and I heard a sizzling zap noise. Not only did my running light on my trailer not work, but my running lights on my ranger do not work I checked all of my fuses and none are toast. I am just puzzled as to why they are not working. Checked all the bulbs and they are fine as well. Any help at all would be great! It sucks not being able to drive at night.

Seems like it Either Overloaded or shorted out by 2 contacts coming together, Did you remove the harness from the truck and try the Trucks lights Again?

What the guy said above. I would also test the wires going in and out of the headlight switch. Make sure you have power going in and then out when you turn them on. I didnt see what year you have but regardless it should be easy to get to and test.

It could be that the guts of the connector or wire melted to the point of the wires touching But thats seems Unlikely because the fuse is Suppose to blow to prevent damage to the wiring.

I would double check the fuses, I've missed one because it didn't look blown when it was.

There is tow package relay under the hood could've shorted out. When I first got my truck and pluged in a trailer I had no running lights. Had brake and turn but that was it. Changed the relay and all is good.
