Default Ignition relay opening and closing when key not in ignition

Truck info:
2000 Ford Ranger xlt 2wd 2.5l

Problem:
The Truck ran fine, I parked it and about 3 hours later came out to a dead battery. I presumed I left the lights on which killed the battery so I tried to jump start the truck and it won't take a jump. When I tried to jump it there was no response when I would turn it over (not even the standard click click click when the battery is dead). From inside the truck I can hear a relay tripping when the keys are out of the ignition. When I put the keys in the ignition the relay stops tripping. I believe the relay that is actuating is the ignition relay (located underneath the glove compartment).

I am in the process of getting a wiring diagram from autozone but wanted to start a discussion to see if anybody has ran into this issue in the past.
