Default Changing car alarm tone

So the alarm I have installed has the same tone almost every car has. If I buy another speaker that has a different tone will it pretty much just be disconnecting the old speaker and splicing in the new one? I wanna be able to tell if its my alarm that's going off.

That's a drag people don't have respect for others. your alarm works off your horn doesn't it you could always change the horn. Or go to the dog pound and get a big mean ugly dog and let him live in the truck at night LOL

Trunk monkey would be best. But yes, you can buy a siren for a different alarm and it's just a 2 wire hook up. Ground and the power. Buy a Compustar siren or something other than DEI. The common sound is dei, they make viper, python, Clifford, etc.

the speaker is just a speaker. the alarm tone is programmed into the brain of every alarm i've ever installed or come across.

No they're sirens with the tone in them. Just hook the leads up to a battery and listen

the ones on my personal trucks and others on friends trucks all had a normal speaker. could be brand specific, who knows.

Every DEI and Compustar I've ever dealt with are actual sirens. I have one sitting downstairs

Yeah the siren has te different tones in it. They have a small board in them and if you connect them to straight power you will hear the siren itself switch sounds. Just get a different siren of your choice and wire it in. It's a simple 2 wire setup. As for dei alarms, I have a viper and hate it. Can't wait to get my compustar pro 901. Train horns would make the robber crap their pants.
