Default Heater controls not working properly

I am new to this forum and am here because of a problem (a common story?)

My Heater/AC turns on (motor and fan works) but when I try to select whether the air goes to windshield or face or feet, etc. there doesn't seem to be much control. It was working well up to a couple of days ago. Seems to me this would either be an electrical problem as I'm turning a selector knob, but...

Thanks for any tips!

I believe this is vacuum controlled? You may have to just stick you head down there and look at vacuum hoses...

Thanks! I did a little searching on this forum and what you offer makes sense. My problem is that I have no idea where to look or what I'd be looking at. Any photos around? Where are these hoses? I changed out my thermostat recently. I know where the heater hoses are, and in the past I've replaced heater cores. That's about the extent of my experience. My Haynes book didn't offer much.

This is about the extent of my knowledge on this subject, sorry. But I would strongly recommend you get the Ford service manuals. I bought mine off of ebay for like fifty bucks.

Air lines are on the back of the control panel

Maybe this pic of the general vacuum hose routing will help.

Thanks for the video. I would need to watch it several times to get all you were saying. The good news is that I have an acquaintance who runs a repair garage nearby. Yesterday (before I saw the video here) I told him what the problem was and what the suggestions you all have offered and said I had no idea what a vacuum line for a heater looked like or where to begin looking. He popped the hood, found a line that had been misplaced and gotten burnt in half (when I replaced the T-stat??). He spliced it with a piece of rubber hose over each end and off I go! 3 minutes...

I appreciate this forum!
