Default Transmission Problem?

I have a 2001 xlt 4x4 and when i take off after being warmed up and when it shifts from 1st too 2nd it seems to go in to neutral and stay there until i come to a slower speed. What seems to be the issue. Just changed fluid but no new filter. I have no other solution expect replace filter. What do you think is the problem?

If it kicks into gear (pretty hard) its a common fallacy with these transmissions. Mine does it and ive gotten it diagnosed by multiple transmission specialists. One said it was the valve body gasket but the others pretty much agree its a clutch pack going bad. Unfortunately this means a rebuild in the future, however, ive run mine with this problem for 2 years already. Some people say to NOT change the fluid if this is the case but its a theory that everyone squabbles over. All this assuming its an auto of course.

They usually start going to shit around 150k-160k miles, whats yours at? Every transmission is different but for mine at least ive found the best way to drive with that problem is to slowly accelerate through, most of the time it wont kick. You have to play with it to see what works for you but your only real option is to go get a diagnostic on it to confirm, be gentle with your driving, and save for a more-than-likely rebuild. Like i said though ive driven my truck with it like that for 2 years now, on its last leg or not. When the money comes ill be getting a rebuild for it asap.
