Exclamation Tranny kickback while pushing on gas... Help!

Hey guys and gals, ever since I bought my truck in May of 09', I have been having a little tranny issue. When I want to pass someone on the streets from the opposite lanes or speed up before hitting a hill, my tranny would sometimes kickback sort of. It feels like it's not catching the gears right and it just kicks at me. I do keep up on my transmission fluid changes and engine oil changes. I am using Valvoline Max life transmission fluid and Valvoline Max life for the engine oil. So I don't know what's going on but if anybody knows and could help me, I would gladly appreciate it. Thanks for yall's time.

Yeah I don't think it's my clutch everything seems and rides okay. Just when I want to really give it my all it feels like it slips/kicks. I don't know. What about the rear diff? I was looking into on how to do that too.

The diff's are solid gears, nothing to kick. Sounds more like its the transmission downshifting out of overdrive real rough. I defer to transmission experts.

Grease your slip yoke. I'll bet it clunks when you accelerate heavily from a stop too.

Necessary tools and misc
-White lithium grease (with red straw nozzle)
-5" metal hose clamp (screw tightened)
-regular screw driver
To grease the slip yolk:
-locate drive shaft
-slip yolk is located on drive shaft close to transmission
-slip yolk is covered by a black plastic boot

-remove metal clamp on engine side of boot.
-lift boot by sliding regular screw driver under the edge
-slide red straw nozzle in gap created by screw driver
-using red straw nozzle spray white lithium grease in slip yolk
-spray until grease begins to leak out.
-rotate drive shaft 180 degrees
-repeat all steps
-replace clamp with new hose clamp

Enjoy!

Question Re: Tranny kickback while pushing on gas... Help!

OK, been having this thunk when pulling away from a stop, this topic describes it right on! Went out to grease my slip yolk and BAM, its not there. The tranny tail comes out to the u-joint, then the thick aluminum looking driveshaft, then to the second u-joint, then the rear end. No boot, clamp, nothing to get grease behind. I am at a loss on this one guys!

I think I have the same problem. I don't know where to grease at so if anybody could post some pictures on what to do we would really appreciate it. Thanks

Having the same problems as ya'll and have the same type drive shaft as ya'll also. The slip yoke is just the part that slides into the end of the transmission. Only problem is because we have a "old" style driveshaft the trans is gonna puke out some maybe all its fluid so make sure ya got some handy to replace what is lost.

Now I've heard there is a "special" grease used when lubing the slip yoke anyone confirm?

Mine is the same. I was thinking the driveshaft had play in it that caused the problem. When I undercoated my truck I had my bro move it to make sure the whole driveshaft was done, and the driveshaft started going as I watched then caught and made the noise. Seems like with the play it is the rear catching up or something.
