| | Clutch again... I'm an Idiot
So when my clutch is about to go out it wont engage until my foots almost off the clutch? Is that true? And what does a burn clutch smell like I was playing around and accidently roasted my tires a little and I smelled the burnt rubber. But when I got back in my truck about 2 hours later and lifted the hood I still smelled that burnt tire smell. Is that what the clutch smells like?

unless you are seriously beating the crap out of your clutch, it shouldn't be going so soon, oh wait i have seen a toyota echo with a smoked clutch at 1,000 miles
but seriously, i had 130,000 on my 2001 on the original clutch, and 55,000 on my 2006 with the original clutch, and not really nice on any of my stuff

Is it possible that its a bad clutch cause when I got the truck it felt like a brand new cluch and like I havent really been that hard on it like Ive had to ride it a little to go off road so I wouldnt stall when climbing a rock and stuff but I havent done that much in it.

My clutch in the Mazda is all the way to the top when it engages, so I figure I need a new one. But it has 100K of city driving on it. The '05 clutch is perfect, and it has 35K on the new one, and I only replaced it at 85K because the slave cylinder was going out.
Adam, sounds like your slave cylinder is dying. Happened to my '05 at 85K.

Burnt clutch smells like burt brakes. I like the smell of tire, hate brakes/clutch. I'd hate to say it sounds like the clutch. As a word from a mechanic, get a new slave cyl. and turn your flywheel. Ive seen too many comebacks becauseof skimping on the small stuff.
