I have a 2000 ranger xlt auto and I think its developing a trans problem. First off when it sits overnight and I go out to leave in the morning it seems to take gears hard, especially from first to second. Also when im just driving it and I get right to a point where it should shift but im keeping the speed constant, it grabs the next gear kind of hard. Also when I get to the last gear at 40-45 I feel it shifts rough and theres a vibration?? But When I give it more gas through the last gear it seems better? Any ideas??? Please Help!!

i have a similar issue with my 2.5 mine takes a few hard shifts from 1st to 2nd. someone has told me that most of the transmissions ford used in the rangers and explorers get confused easily. and id check the transmission pan, the bolts like to come loose and leak a little fluid haha

Mine seems to be full of fluid but I just bought it about 4 months ago and i don't know if the trans has ever been serviced.. someone suggested the bands may need adjustment?? I don't even know what that means?
