Default Shifter is stuck in gear. Just changed the clutch assembly and added fluid.

The title pretty much explains it. I dropped the trans and installed a new slave cylinder, pressure plate & disk etc. Upon putting the trans back in, I tried to move the stick and realized it was stuck in 2nd gear.

I tried to pull it loose with a screwdriver after removing the stick, and I can't seem to get the gear into neutral. I am pressing the clutch while trying to shift. Also on top of that, I think the battery is dead. HELP!! What do I need to do to get the gear into neutral?

Unless you've jammed and jerked it until you broke something it should slip right into neutral with a screwdriver. On the dead battery, did you leave the hood up with the little light on for the duration of the trans pull and reinstall?

I got the shifter loose now by shaking the engine a bit and prying on it. But now when I try to go into gear I get a grinding noise. I began to bleed the clutch, but I am having immense trouble. I know you are supposed to bleed it a special way but I don't know how. Also before I ended up jumping it, I tried to push start it, but it was stuck as if the parking brake was down...of course it wasn't.

Google it. There's some very good videos on "How-To".

I've bled it twice and replaced the battery, but it refuses to go into gear whenever it is running. If I start the truck in gear, it will stay in gear but won't shift. If I start it in neutral, I can't put it in gear. It won't seem to disengage.

I had to end up buying a brake bleeder pump. The amount of air trapped in that sucker was shocking to say the least.
