Default Jerk and clunk between reverse and drive

Hi,

My 4x4 Sport 2007 with 76,000 miles on it has a significant jerk and clunking noise when shifting from drive to reverse or reverse to drive. Park to reverse and park to drive is normal. Transmission shifts smoothly in all gears while driving.

Is this the u-joint, a bad computer flash, slip yolk, sign of a bad transmission or completely normal?

Thanks for any help.

It's not the trans. Most likely your slip joint needs grease. U-joints might do it too?

Your driveshaft is a two-piece. If so check the mid Bearing. Mine was makeing a noise like that. And it was driveshaft support bearing

Nope. Mine is now a 1-piece, same as all 1998+ Rangers. And new U-joints. And it does clunk, same as Jared152.

Thanks for the input. I was under the truck today and there was no play in the drive shaft. I won't be able to touch her again until friday, sat, and sun. I will grease the joints and stuff and if that doesn't do the trick ill replace the u joints.

And I have a 1 piece drive shaft, but thanks for the help anyways.
