Default Towing 4 on the ground behind motor coach

I have a 2002 4.0 edge manual 5 speed 4x4, the 4x4 selector is on the dash. I have been warned that I should not tow this truck without a modification to disengage the front drive axle. Does anyone know what the part is ?

Who told you this? They don't know what they are talking about. There is no reason to remove your front axle while towing.

This is the correct way to tow a 4x4 with all wheels on the grounds. I know 100% that you need to remove the main driveshaft. However I'm uncertain [as 4x4/awd systems vary from make/model] if you HAVE to remove the front drive shaft depending on how it works with the transfer case with the transmission, but its a safe bet to just remove both rear and front drive shafts.
