Ranger XLT AUTO_TRANS Problem " HELP ? "
Hi, I live in WV where 4x4 is necessary. I bought my Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 V-6, 5-SPD_AUTOMATIC_O/D_TRANS New and have had it back to the dealer several times for a blown O-Ring in transmision causing it to have no low gear hold back when going down a steep hill, ( Just like it being in netural " Dangerous " ) especially here in WV Mountians.
New related BIG problem, Just did it again yesterday while driving in a level parking lot , This time making a cracking noise and my Reverse gear is also gone. HISTORY
When New under warranty The dealer replaced an O-Ring in trans 3 seperate times before finally replacing the valve body new. This held for a few years after I moved to a more level location. After the harsh winter now it has gone again and took my reverse with it this time and warranty is gone so I want to fix it myself this time.
Went out this morning to check, started truck, put in reverse and it makes a squealing sound. Scares me now, Could this be the blown O-Ring making a noise ? Or something else like torque converter or a band ?
Any help appreciated !!!!!!!
I found some good help here a few months ago and fixed another problem.
Thanks
