Default Transmission fluid recommendation

Truck.... 1994 Ranger Xlt 2..3L with the mazda m50d r-1 transmission.

Question..... anyone using valvoline maxlife dexron/mercon trans. fluid? experience with it?

Or, is there another recommended brand that is better or just as good?

Thanks!

Use what the owners manual and ford tell you to.

Sent from my iPhone 5 so I can tell you to search wherever I may be

Advice heard, thanks. Was looking for some real world experience on valvoline maxlife fluid and if its good or bad. Manual states too use mercon. After searching, many here are using mercon v as per Fords updated specs. Just would like too know if anyones using maxlife in the Mazda md50r1 and how it runs.

It'll run the same and in my view maxlife is just a gimmick. If the insurance makes you feel better get-it but I'd personally just get the mercon V unless you wanted to upgrade to synthetic. I just don't believe the chemistry of "protecting or reconditioning" seals.
