Default Buying a remanufactured 4R44E

The time has come.. I have 211,000 miles on my current trans. About 5k miles ago, it started to flare and also slip out of OD under heavy throttle. And as of today reverse is not wanting to engage. Fluid is at the right level and is fresh (as is the filter). Being such a high mileage trans, I think it's probably just time to replace it. I honestly didn't think it would go this far. Anyway, I am trying to decide where to get a remanufactured one from. I found this one on ebay. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=14985944059

It's pricey, but they dyno test and include the torque converter and a 100k mile warrenty. Shipping is also included for the new one as well as the core return. Does this seem like a good route or do you guys think it is over priced? Anyone know if this company is reputable?

I have considered taking the money and putting it towards a vehicle with less miles, but I don't have a place to store my truck and couldn't stand to get rid of it. Plus, it still runs great and has been really well cared for.

Why not find a good transmission shop and have them rebuild yours

Do you think I would come out cheaper that way? My only concern with that is I wouldn't know where to begin as far as finding a shop that I know would do a good job.

I will definitely look into it then but I'm skeptical as to whether or not I'll find a place I think is reliable. I have never used a mechanic so I don't know of any good ones around here. Also I would really want a warrenty and I'm not sure if that is an option with the rebuilding route.

Most rebuild shops have a warrenty

Oh alright. I will see if there are any shops around here then and consider that. Thanks a lot for the input. To others- I'm still opened to thoughts on the reman option I mentioned as well.

It looks like the warrenty is going to be a lot better with a reman as opposed to a rebuilt.
