for something this small, i wouldn't order online. shipping would double the cost compared to if you went to a local parts house.




A tool I havnt owned up until this summer is a seal puller tool. it's come in handy quite a bit since, so I suggest spending he $10 on a new tool. Or you can do it the old school way of screwdrivers to remove the old seal. Then just take a hammer and gently tap the new one into place, driving it into the trans housing as evenly as possible (straight and square into the trans). Some seals have a recess in them that you can use flat head with a hammer on the butt to tap it into place.

That is a good general seal puller. I'm assuming its very similar to the one Shane has.

Also, another hint to putting the new seal in, get a piece of wood like a 2x4 or something. Put the 2x4 on the seal and hammer on the wood. It will distribute the force more evenly and will have less of a chance to distort the seal.

Much appreciated. Yeh unfortunately all of my buddies (who are capable of being help and not a PITA don't live here anymore). I am not too worried about the fix, just never taken out the drive shaft before. All my air tools are at my Dad's because he has the compressor. I'm hoping I wont need air tools for this.

Yeah...my tools very similar to that one pictured.

I do the wood trick sometimes too...but in certain areas, handling the wood is the pain in the ass. lol.


You'll need a 12mm 12point wrench for those rear axle shaft bolts. They're on there pretty good, so you'll likely want to double wrench it. No room for impact....no air tools will fit back there.

Alright ill pick up a socket soon. I was planning on using a 1/2" socket and a breaker bar. Or can I get away with a normal 3/8" ratchet and socket?
