I have an automatic 99 3.0 2wd with 136000+miles.

The reverse gear has gone out, and I'm wondering... is a rebuild worth the cost, or should I save and get another vehicle? Good news is, I have another reliable vehicle to use while this is down, but is it worth it to rebuild, or find a used tranny and have it put in?

Or should I even bother at all?

well you could probley find a used one on craiglist but you get what you pay for
