I have a 1990 ford ranger 2wd, I'm pretty sure it's the 2.4l. My problem is i lost reverse and 5th gear. I don't want to break the bank to fix it. I know nothing about transmissions. I'm driving it every day just got to be picky where i park. LOl. I need some ideas on which way would be the cheapest and easiest fix. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like you've got a 5spd manual, and some how the 5th and rev shifting fork broke off, or came loose on the shaft.

You never know what its going to cost till its pulled and opened up.
