Default I burned up my clutch...

So in a stroke of genious the other day, I think I burned up my clutch. Lately it's had a clunk when I disengage it, but I thought it was normal (this is my first stick experience.) I went to drive it up a curb yesterday to hose a bunch of sand out of the bed, and put it in 4x4 high. I gave it some gas, and slowly let the clutch out and eventually had the clutch all the way out and it was still not taking. Then it smelled really bad (like burnt clutch). I hosed out the bed, and went to start the truck, heard a clunk, and had no electricity. It was as if I had disconnected the battery. We hooked a volt meter up and the electrical was fine. I doubt that had anything to do with the clutch, but thought i'd ask.

Anyways, I drove this morning, and when I got to the armory, it smelled a little like clutch. Should I get it looked at or will it go away with time?

When my clutch went on my focus it slipped alot. I haven't had my clutch go out on my truck but I'm sure eventually due to age it will go out. I probably won't invest the money to have it rebuilt, the value of the truck isn't worth it.

I just had mine replaced at a shop it cost close to 800.00, wish I could have done it myself. I had to question if I wanted to spend that much, but heck I love my truck. It has 120500 purrs like a kitten, and other than a few mecanical problems she has been great.

On a level of 1 to 5 it's a 4.5 difficulty. At least for me it would have been. My cost on my Focus was $600 and some but ended having to put a new starter in too b/c it was all stripped out costing me $900 total.

Well, I took my dad for a spin in the truck today, and he said the clutch sounded fine. and its slipping less than it was this morning... Probably got glazed over he said. (he drove buses with a clutch for years.)

Clutches ain't bad if you got the tools. Tranny jack is A#1. I got 180k on my truck's first clutch, got a new one waiting to pop in and it cost $150 brand new.

its not that bad of a job, while a tranny jack is better, it can be done with a floor jack and a couple 2x4's if youre careful. i put one in mine about a year and a half ago, and believe it or not the parts were actually cheaper at the daeler. they had a kit that had the disc pressure plate and slave cylinder with the throwout bearing for $200 and the same kit at advance auto parts was $300. i didnt resurface the flywheel because it only slipped once and it barely did but if yours has been slipping like you said i would definatly resurface it. i dont know how much machine shops charge in your area but here its only about $40 to resurface it.
