Post 2008 Mazda B3000 Clutch Question

Hello all... first post here. I have a question about the clutch in my truck that I am hoping some of the more technical members here can shed some light on.

I have recently purchased a 2008 B3000 4x4 to that I use to as a daily commuter. I put about 2000 miles on it in the last month or so. When I first got it, occasionally when the clutch was depressed it would be a little hard to put in 1st gear, but only occasionally. At other times it was fine. It doesn't seem to matter if it is hot or cold. I have been dealing with it, and that problem has not seemed to gotten any worse over the last 2000 miles.

Recently, over the last week or so, the clutch seems to slip a little when first put into gear but quickly catches up and doesn't seem to slip once it rights itself. The problem is much worse when it is cold. Once it warms up, it happens very slightly or not at all.

I am not all that technical, but have done a clutch or two in my day. Some things I have read point to the slave cylinder, but then there is conflicting information on whether or not the tranny needs to be dropped to swap this out. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for the advice.
