Default Front Differential Attachment

The front differential on my 2005 Ranger is supported by the front axles and a bracket on the rear that attaches to the frame with a bolt. There is about 1/2 inch of play in this bracket bolt. Is it supposed to be free-floating like this, or should the bold be tight?

It was pretty damn tight when I undid it. I'd say go for the "really tight" method.

Yep, I went to the dealership and looked at some new ones. They were all tight, so I tightened mine up.
