Rear axle swap ABS issue
I swapped out my stock 7.5" axle for a 8.8, and the ABS light goes on after driving a mile. ABS seems to work before you drive it a mile down the road. My question is the tone ring on a 7.5" smaller than an 8.8" tone ring? Does the computer need to be reprogrammed to read for an 8.8? I tried the abs sensor that came with the 8.8 and then a I swapped over the one from the 7.5" as they looked identical.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rear axle swap ABS issue
sounds like a bad sensor in the 8.8, this shoulda been plug n play basically.

Re: Rear axle swap ABS issue
Have you checked inside the hole to make sure the ring is there? Perhaps someone had the 8.8 opened up in the past and took it off.

Is there any other lines close or crossing the sensor? Sometimes other lines can interfere with speed sensors. Also, make sure the gap is correct between the sensor and the gear.

Re: Rear axle swap ABS issue
stupid question are the rear brakes set up right? If the rear brakes are locking up it will do the same thing.

after driving a bit the abs just stops working all together. gonna pull the abs codes see what it says and rebleed the lines again for the 4th time.

To be honest I have no Idea what they are supposed to be set at. But I do know the things that can mess up wheel speed sensors. The gap, other lines integrating with the signal, a broken or worn down tooth on the gear, or a broken sensor.

Re: Rear axle swap ABS issue
just curious, did you have it scanned for the abs code?...maybe a front sensor or wheel bearing is the problem??...
