Default gear oil for open diff

If a bottle of gear oil says for limited slip can i use it on my ranger's 2010 open diff or it will mess it up

the limited slip gear oil has friction modifiers in it. it should be safe to use in an open. if you havnt opened the bottle yet you could return it and get a regular bottle and few bucks back at most places

Will using synthhetic save me gas enough to notice or simpply i should stik to regular bigg known brand eighty ninetyy

id check the owners manual for what oil is recomended. i thought ford swapped to syn 75-140.

as for the the synthetic over regular i didnt notice a difference other then synthetic stays cleaner longer but finds leaks easier and i think all newer fords come with synthetics from the factory

Fill plug is that the one on that is square drivers side of diff on the bottom half of the diff ?

The FX4 & LSD calls for 75W140, the 7.5" & 8.8" open calls for 80W90. The dealers will sometimes use 75W140 rather than keep 2 oils in stock.

Like the other thread about this. Buy 75/90 weight amsoil for it and move on. 74/140 synthetic is thick as check when it's cold out 75/90 is the proper weight for an open diff in synthetic.
