Any thoughts on the best fluid to use?

I have a 2002 4.0 with an automatic.....I'm going to change out fluid....its over due.

I was thinking of changing filter and fluid with run of the mill MercronV, driving for a few hundred miles and changing again with a synthetic.

Any thoughts on Royal Purple or other synthetics?

TrePaul86, when u change over royal purple tranny oil ,did u feel any diff in the tranny shift, I'm doing a tranny oil change to RP MAX ATF??
