Gear Shifter Replacement - '87; 2.3L; 2wd; Manual Shift;
Hello, everyone.
I was hoping to get some help with an issue my '87 ranger is giving me trouble with. Someone attempted to "repair" a bend in the gear shifter apparently by either cutting and welding or heating and bending the shifter arm. This melted the track that keeps the gear shifter centered and on course for the various gear positions.
As it is now, it's drivable, but the gear shifter has zero tension and no guides into the gears. It's dangerous and extremely annoying.
I've looked at the part assembly and mount and, best I can tell, it's only held on with four bolts and would be an easy installation if i could find out exactly what part I needed and where to get it -- none of the auto parts stores stock replacements that I can find and I haven't had any luck doing research online.
Any advice?
Thanks!
