Default Flashing overdrive light.

I have a 2003 ranger edge, 3.0 automatic. Last night the overdrive off light started flashing, but it was driving fine. I didn't notice any problems shifting. I took it to my local dealer for diagnostics and they told me the torque converter is bad, but when I drove it home it was shifting really hard out of first gear into second. I called the dealer and talked to the mechanic. He said all they did was clear the code and that it needs to re-learn itself and it will stop shifting hard. Is this true or did they screw me. He also told me that getting the trans flushed may fix the torque converter. Thanks for any help, this is my first post but I have gotten a lot of help from FRF threads.

A transmission will shift differently as it is relearning after its computer gets reset.

couldn't tell you about the torque converter though.

I didn't get the code. The light isn't flashing anymore, but its still shifting hard.

Also I've only driven back from the dealer. About 10 miles. So maybe I need to drive it more for it to reset.

Could be you might want to search for some of the threads on valve body gasket failure they can be fairly common on these trans and when mine failed it popped up as torque conv failure code

Drive and if it consists something to look into

sent from my IPod using the FRF app

I probably should have included this in my original post, sorry. I also had a cel, bank 1 and bank 2 lean, which I already knew was the maf sensor. The cel was still on when I left the dealer so I checked it when I got home and it said, p0102 "maf or vaf a crk low". So today I went ahead and replaced the maf sensor and the hard shifting went away. Sorry I left that out. I know I need to post every problem and symptom so you guys can help. Thanks for the help.
