Default Drive Shaft

I removed the bolts from the rear of the driveshaft and the driveshaft is still in. Am I supposed to remove the u-joints to get the driveshaft out?
.
I'm trying to remove the trans to replace the clutch and finally got all the bolts out of the driveshaft (front and back) and the rear won't drop down.
.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im thinking I already have to cut the pipe out and have a shop replace it after I get the clutch work done. Everything is frozen with rust on the exhaust.
.
Thank You

You will probably have to pry the u-joint forward with a bar or large screwdriver. Be careful the caps don't come off and the needle bearings fall out.

I had to persuade it to separate with a hammer, just be careful not to hit something you don't want to hit, such as the driveshaft itself. If you have a two piece drive shaft, compress it to help drop it past the pinion nut.

I don't think I'll have to disturb the u-joints...

Pry between the u-joint and the pinion flange. You shouldn't have to take the u-joints apart unless they need replacing but when the driveshaft comes loose at the flange the caps can fall off. Wrap the caps to the cross-shaft with tape to keep them in place. When you pry it loose the driveshaft will compress automatically. You want to keep everything in proper orientation. Mark the u-joint and the pinion flange, and the driveshaft in front and behind the slip joint. If the two halves separate you want to be able to put them back in proper orientation or you will end up with vibration.
