No reverse

Ok so yesterday i was driving home from work and my truck was fine, i stopped for a cup of coffee got back in put her in reverse backed about halfway out of spot and bang and truck revved up and thats all it will do in reverse. drive is fine shifts like it should in all forward gears but wont do anything in reverse I'm kinda stumped, trans fluid looks like brand new and don't smell burnt at all it was dark so i couldn't see underneath i am gonna check all the linkage components today

Yup idk it sucks tho lol every time i pull into a parkinglot i have to take up like 2 spots or when im ready to leave im pushin it out of the spot

Actually i have the 4r44e and reverse is straight gone and 1st gear works but if i put it in manual 1 to downshift it goes to idle but manual 2 works like it should, idk im gonna take it to a trans shop that my whole family recommended and see what they say, but im gonna look into it more maybe its just the separator plate and valve body gasket

It was the reverse band, and the trans guy replaced all the clutch packs as well

Haha yea i know and it wasnt too bad price wise, the trans guy replaced all the forward clutches and the reverse band for 200 bucks so

Its back in and running and shifting good, im gonna take it back to the trans shop and have them firm up the shift and adjust the shift points friday.

That was relatively cheap then, damn. The tranny guy around here told me 1800 to rebuild my tranny.

Thats cuz the guy you talked to does it right. Mine cost me 1500 and thats all new internals if your going to pull the tranny out to fix it you might as well do all of it when it comes to transmissions

True, true. he only had the forward clutches all replaced and a new reverse band, probably why it wasn't so much.

Its exactly why. if your doing it on a budget its a good thing but if it ever happens on any of my cars the whole thing is getting rebuilt because i dont want to have to do all that in another month or two for something else

I agree, its cheaper to buy another tranny then it is to rebuild though. I weigh that option all the time, but then I think well what if I buy a bad tranny?

Yeah you just dont know what your getting or if it will last you. I had a buddy do that and he ended up buying 3 or 4 of them damn things he spent more than getting it rebuilt in the first place

The trans was fully rebuilt when i bought the truck, so i thought, when jewett tore into it everything else was new so he repaced what was bad
