My mom and dad have a 1998 ford ranger it is there only vehicle at this time they are both disabled and on a fixed income,
the other day mom got in it like normal put it in reverse and it was like she went to neutral, since i have replaced the trans filter and checked the reverse servo it had some play within the walls but was snug i stuck a screw driver up to check the band and it had tension, i had dad engage it in reverse with the pan off and at first there was oil coming out where the spring is in the valve body next the the reverse valve then he did it again and it came out a port by the servo valve, any ideas or help will be appreciated, the trans shops just want to do complete rebuilds and my parents cant afford it right now

IM sure someone else has had a similar problem all the other forums i have seen it has been the reverse band
