Default transmisson fluid question

i have a 1990 ford ranger. Don't know if it takes atf or gear fluid. What would happen if i put the wrong stuff in it cuz i think i might of. If you know what it might take please let me know or how to find out. i put gear fluid in it.

auto tranny ATF manual tranny gear lube ...you can also ask at the parts store when you get the fuild

ok it is a manual transmission so just any gear lube will work? i asked at the parts store and they said i depends on if it's a Mazda or a mitsubishi transmission. i put gear lube in it. if it is wrong it wont hart it any?

get a new auto store, one with a computer that will have all that info on it
