Brand new to the forum world, but looking for some help at the moment! For awhile now there has been a chirping sound coming from underneath my truck...it still drives fine but high pitch metallic chirping sounds are probably no bueno. I haven't taken it to a transmission mechanic yet, I was hoping to see if anyone else here has a clue as to what is wrong. It only does it when it's in drive (automatic trany) and even then it's not all the time. But it's been doing it more lately so now I'm getting a little worried. Any help at all would be appreciated!

Is it a 3.0? I know that those engines have cam synchronizer issues and can cause that exact chirping noise. Sorry if you say so in your sig, I can't see it in the app.

It's actually the 4.0. I just did a Google search for this cam synchronizer issue, and it looks like there are plenty issues on the 3.0's but not much in the way of 4.0's. Might just have to bite the bullet and take it to a local shop...get them to go through it.
