Default broken quick disconnect line to slave... help plz

hello all, a buddy needed a new clutch so i told him i would help out. His truck is a 96 Mazda b400, which is the same as a 96 ranger 4x4 4.0. we got the new clutch in but when we were taking the trans out he cut the line going from the clutch master cylinder to the slave. The only reason it was cut is due to the quick disconnect. It looked like someone had tampered with it previously with pliers and there are no ears on it anymore. So now our situation is we have a new clutch in but the line to the slave is sucking air and i don't know how to get the old disconnect off. He got a new line from a junk yard but the old one, we cant get off. any advice would be helpful. just hoping we don't have to drop trans again and replace slave.

Ranger slaves suck you always replace the slave when you do a clutch. Time to pull it again.

^ yep..

replace the slave.

Also remove the master and bench bleed it. Otherwise you will be removing it all over again.

Don't forget to put the plastic quick-disconnect piece on the line before you attach the master line to the slave otherwise you will be in the same situation all over again.
