Default Re-manufactured transmissions?

Ok this is my first post here on the forums so I apologize if this is the wrong place. I have a 1999 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 v6, manual transmission. I bought this truck a year ago knowing that the transmission was in bad shape. It pops out of first gear if the shifter is not held in the first position (probably what caused the problem in the first place). Anyway, I didnt have the transmission fixed right away because it wasnt quite in the budget and it was still drivable. Now that it is in the budget I am thinking about having a re-manufactured transmission put in. I would consider myself semi-technical with cars but I am not comfortable doing this work myself, and as I got this car priced to include a $2500 transmission, + new clutch and slave cylinder, it doesnt bother me too much to have it done somewhere else. After doing some research and calling a couple places I currently have 2 quotes. One is for $2100 and does not include tax, they will put in an ALLTRANS transmission (based in Portland Oregon) a new clutch and a new slave cylinder. The other quote is $2285 and does include Washington sales tax of 10%. This one though is for a TRC transmission. I think I could talk both quotes down a couple hundred but I want to know if TRC transmissions are worth the extra money? The TRC transmission is $1553 vs. ALLTRANS transmission at $1200. I dont know anything about either company so I am looking for good/bad experiences with either. Anyway, probably way more information than whats needed but I figured Id just spit it all out at first instead of in multiple posts. Thanks in advance for any help!

Jake
