Default Automatic Transmission slipping/won't go into gear

Recently my transmission starting having the following problems in this order -->

1. I cannot start off in Drive, I have to start off in 1 or 2 then after driving I can move car into Drive.

2. Anytime I stop due to pressing the brakes it will not go back into gear, I would have to move back into 1 or 2.

3. Car will not engage in 1 or 2 now, though it will sometimes but jerks when doing so and easily falls out of gear once I hit the brake.

I can always get into reverse no problem, and I have checked my ATF fluid and its fine. I am guessing that my transmission is shot due to a leak that I had for a while and didn't realize it, but I wanted to get some advice on things before I go shopping for another transmission.

I found some info in this post --> "http://www.fordrangerforum.com/drive...lp-please.html" but have not got a reply so figured I'd throw things out to everyone.

Thanks for any advise that you can give!
