| | anybody else ever had this problem?
i havnt even searched any threads because i dont even really know how to describe what is goin on. while goin down the road at speeds of usually around 35 and higher it feels like my transmission is julting back and forth. it happens randomly and only when im on the gas. it definately feels like the transmission of something in the driveline. not really sure how else to explain except it just seems like the transmission is just jerking back in forth. it will happen a few time and then go away and come back randomly. dont know if anyone else has ever had this happen but any advice would be great because i have no idea what is goin on. thanks, jake

Turn your OD off. At that speed your transmission is right on the threshold of the OD range. It'll upshift into OD, then any little load will cause it to downshift. And back and forth it goes.
Your transmission probably does need some tweaking. Early OD automatics were notorious for this behavior. Electronic overdrives helped get rid of the problem. Just turn off the OD when driving under 35 MPH, and turn it back on when you are going faster. Get the transmission checked when you can. It could be as simple as some reprogramming.

You could also be having a problem with the transmission range sensor. We had this with a 94 T-Bird we had. At 60 mph on the freeway it would all of a sudden shift to low gear. Dealer could get no codes from the ECM and said they believed it was the trans range sensor. I gave the go ahead to replace. They then tried to pull a code one last time before replacing said sensor and finally got a a code - it was the trans range sensor.
It is located outside the the trans so fluid does not need to be drained to replace it.

Could also be the Throttle position sensor. If it is worn, it can make the tranny shift up and down at some speeds. It can be easily checked with an ohmeter.

U know what??? Mines doin the same thing, its bearly noticeable, its also around 35 mph. Its like if the tranny cant figure out to upshift or downshift at that speed. But no code is comin out, but im suspecting maybe the tps, I'll look into the range sensor. But like i said ints bearly noticeable, i have to look at the tachometer and jumps maybe 100-200 rpms.
GO GO POWER RANGER!!!

Or it's just the slip yoke going bad and nothing to do with the transmission. This doesn't sound like a shifting issue.

The easiest way to check for misfire on the spark side is start the engine and while it's running pull the spark plug wire it you hear clicking noise the wire is firing. If that's not the case pull the plug and look for fouling. What color is the electrode. That will give you insight to what is going on in there. If the plug looks descent. The last thing to check is injector. Start the truck back up after installing the spark plug and unclip the injector. My advice would be tune up.
