How to repair reverse gear in 5 speed manual transmission
My tranny started popping out of reverse gear. I put in a shifter repair kit (bushings) It has a new clutch, slave cylinder, etc. If I hold shifter down with a lot of force it will back up some before popping out, making a grinding noise.
Can I fix this by taking the output housing off and replacing whatever is broken? Do I have to drop the tranny to do so? What do I need to look for when I get in there? Reverse gear repair instructions would be real helpful. I'm no stranger to this type of repair, just not familiar with this application. Thanks in advance
