Default 83 2.3L slave cylinder issue

Hi all,

I have am '83 2.3 4-speed that I am looking to revive after several years of sitting. The clutch pedal goes down almost to the floor, but only comes up w/assistance from my toe shoving behind the pedal. I looked at the Big Book of Lies (Haynes version) - it says that on this truck the clutch master & slave are sealed at the factory & have to be replaced as a unit, along w/the hose. I find this surprising.

Can I just bleed what's on the truck ? If so, how? I have not been able to crawl under it to look around b/c of timing, etc. I only need to get the clutch going enough for me to limp about 1.5 miles from where the truck is stored to my house.

TIA for any assistance.

Cheers,

Jim
