Why not replace the slave cylinder/throwout bearing? Sounds to me that's what it is, unless it is the input shaft bearing for the trans.

it is input shaft bearing and put some lucus trans fix stuff in it and it sounds much better but don't want to run it too long and have it lock up my wonder is can I use a transmission out of a 92 ranger with the 2.3L?

Haven't taken one of these transmissions apart so not sure but could be some needle bearings that one of the gears ride on it makes the noise when the input shaft is spinning can when push in the clutch can hear it wind down to a stop

It may be out of oil, or really low, but as far as I know the trans are the same from 88 to 98 or 2000, as long as they are for the 2.3

that was the first thing i checked and added 1/4 of a quart and it was full and that didn't help any at all so I put in that stop slip stuff (my dad told me it is awesome stuff) and it did quiet it down to where I can hear my radio now...lol

And thank you hope they are gunna look at that one it only has 80k on it and says it works well

As far as I know, I'd have to agree with tomboy--most of the 2.3L engines would have the same transmissions. However, I'd still take out the trans you have and take it to a place to have it bench-tested; if it's bad, then take it to a place like Cherry-Picked or Pick-N-Pull and ask for a transmission from a 94, and look at the bell housing. If it matches, you're good.

That's just me thinking about it logically tho.

I can't afford to have it tested and the noise it is making suggests replacement or rebuild I found one for 150bucks out of a 96 2.3L engine but Idk if the changed them at all

1993 to 1997 rangers are the same so the transmissions will be the same.
