i have a 83 ranger with a 2.3 with a four speed. i want to put a 5 speed in it. my question is that is it a strait swap or is it more then just a bolt in. can you guys help me.

wel in a 83 i think the auto shifter is in the floor? if you do already have an auto and if you do have a manual it should work just find just an extra gear. i know my truck dont ever make it to od because thet interstate speed is around 65 here

I'm in the same boat - have an '83 2.3 w/4-speed manual, and want to replace it w/a 5-speed, but keep the same (cranked) shifter lever. Is that possible? If so, for what type gearbox should I be looking?

i was thinking of getting a 5 speed out a 2.3 mustang but i dont know if it would work
