Thumbs down Pain in the ass to shift!

Alright, I start up my truck, let her run for ten fifteen minutes. Hop in it, head to wherever. Shifts beautifully, clutch pedal is still stiff. About 30 minutes into a journey though, it just doesn't want to go into gear from a stop.

I can shift down through the gears to first and sit at a light. But the truck still wants to pull forward. Getting it into first (or reverse) from a stop is almost impossible. And even accelerating Im having to time it more and more for it to actually go into gear.

And the clutch pedal feels just as stiff but it doesn't seem to be disengaging? Or maybe a synchro issue? How does one bleed a clutch on this vehicle? I dunno though. Im not near experienced enough to diagnose this and its just becoming a pain in the ass. Thank you. All input is appreciated

It may be the pilot bearing trying to sieze up on the input shaft.

Yeah, ill let you know for sure.

What else would be a symptom of the pilot bearing.

I could see how that could cause the issues, but I dont really have the tools to drop my tranny. So just trying to be close to sure about the problem before I dig into it.

Also Im gunna assume the slave is internal? since I dont see it chillin under the hood or on the tranny.
Thank you again!

It is not the pilot bearing. Most likely it is either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. You need to check the fluid level in the master cylinder and then report back what you find........

when you are sitting at the light the truck is in gear and the clutch is fully depressed(all the way to the floor)?

Alright, see i thought this was consistent with air in the system, but I don't ever touch hydraulics. Hah The fluid level is fine.

and yes, at a light, clutch completely depressed, it wants to pull. Only after Ive been driving for a while though. At first its all fine, but ten miles or so into a trip it is unbelievably difficult to do anything.

try bleeding it first. have a friend hold down pedal and you crack the bleeder open for a split second then close it back up. friend pumps back up and repat till you get a solid stream of good fluid. watch the resivor dont let it run out of dot 3 brake fluid.

the problem is somehow the clutch isnt disengaging fully. the throwout bearing could be trying to lock up but normally they will start squealing real loud. do you know how many miles are on your clutch? master cylinder and slave ever been replaced?

.
then bring it to a mechanic because there is no way that can be fixed without touching something to do with "hydraulics"

I've had this happen twice on my truck due to a bad slave cylinder causing gears to be difficult when stopped or at slow speeds... I'm starting to notice it more at higher speeds but I haven't seen any changes in my clutch pedal.

I was just saying I have close to zero experience with these kind of clutches, so I'm not sure on anything.

I guess I'll try replacing the slave, and check on everything else while im in there, over next weekend. Thank you all. I've been doing more reading, and others with the issue started there.

Thanks again

FYI......replacing a slave on these trucks is a lot of work...so while you are in there checking everything else out you should replace the flywheel, disc, PP, tb, slave and PB.

If you do this, it will make the problem WORSE, Clutch systems are not pedal bled, they are gravity bled.

Fill the resivoir up to the top, crack the bleeder and let the fluid flow on it's own. make sure you fill the resivoir up a total of 2 times (fluid wise) and do not let the resivoir go empty, this will flush any crap out of the fluid and push any trapped air bubbles out of the lines.
