Same problem with my 1987 2.9 5speed 2wd supercab. Seems it was a toyo koygo trans when I replaced the shifter about 20 years ago. No shortage of people telling you how to get the 1994 with a mazda trans to disconnect. I did that one last year with a piece of tin can and you can at least see the connection. This is farther up and I don't know how you got that picture. An endoscope maybe?
I'm thinking this separates from the master cylinder end but will keep searching through all the stupid replies from the body lift city boys at ranger station, ford forum, answers.com,about,ehow. just idiots. a picture of a 95 f150 connector at ford forum aint even close to a 1987 ranger.
