Don't think I've seen one either.

Totally forgot to point something like that out.... I've seen aluminum shafts on all cab/bed configurations except reg cab short bed. Never seen a 2 piece(2 piece meaning has a carrier bearing between the two).

Shortening/modifying alum shafts are some big money....only some shops are setup for alum shafts. I've only got 2 in the huge metro area near me that has tons and tons of driveline shops. Just a little word of warning.

Thanks for the warning... man that sucks though! Seems like it would take a good amount of stress off the tranny to spin that thing if it was aluminum... ill look anyways... maybe ill get extremely lucky! probably not.

does any explorer drive shafts work to the ranger? more specifically the reg cab short bed ranger?

some one on here or TRS has a standard cab, sb, 2wd edge that ran off parking lot and teeter-tottered their truck bending the aluminum drive shaft... I remember seeing the pics, once piece shaft..

Doesnt a company make an aluminum one? would it be useful to find a mustang aluminum driveshaft and cut it to fit the ranger? Also, are there specific years to which the aluminum driveshaft was on? or was it only on the superacb and not the regular cab?

You can't just cut a driveshaft, it then needs to be properly balanced which can be very costly.

Alum driveshafts are great for reducing parasitic drivetrain loss and thus, increasing rwhp and engine responsiveness.

I was looking in to this for my 98 4x4 ext.cab. I was told if I switch to a 1peice aluminum shaft that I would have to use the yolks from the aluminum one. Can someone confirm this?

I had a steel two-piece in my 93 4x4 with a 4.0 went to aluminum big difference on the acceleration the vibration went away the only thing I had to do also was change the front flange because the aluminum shaft has a bigger Front flange, also I did have to trim the gas tank shield slightly because The aluminum driveshaft was so much bigger it touched a shield when I flexed the truck
