Question came out of gear while driving

I down shifted making a turn. A few seconds later it seemed as though it came out of gear. Truck was still running but wouldn't go in to gear. After I pulled over I turned the engine off. I tried to restart the truck but it wouldn't turn over. It was getting power and trying to turn over, but no luck. After sitting for a week I tried to start the truck. All I got was click, click, click. It sounds like to me there are two separate problems. transmission and then the starter. Two weeks prior it wouldn't start - all the sudden. So, cleaned the block ground, cleaned and attached the starter ground. Started right up after that. Now I have the transmission issue. Any thoughts ?
Does it sound like the starter is the issue ?
