The 4 wheel drive on my 2001 hasn't worked for several years. I never did used it much - maybe less than 10 times since I bought the truck new. When I turn the dash switch to Hi or Lo nothing happens - no light on the dash and no engaging 4 wheel. I have checked the fuses and they appear to be ok. Anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated - Rick

when u hit the switch do you hear a click underneath the truck?

You may need a new dash switch, they are prone to go out. Sounds like you are not getting signal

This happened to me and I needed both the dash switch and the part on the case to engage the 4x4. Went to a local 4x4 shop and had it diagnosed.

I realize this is an old thread but I need advice. I have the same problem in my '96 extended cab w/ 5-sp. No lights, no click nothing. I understand it may be the switch or the Control Module.
1. Where is the control module? I have read different locations.
2. Is there any easily accessed point where I can check voltages? I have a multimeter w/ diode checker.
