Default had a little problem when i was mudding

ok i have a 2wd 1998 2.5L ford ranger, yes before anyone says anything i know it was stupid to go mudding but hey, it was fun an i enjoyed it. but i know it was dumb as hell. now heres my issue: my left rear tire was spinning but my right rear which was off the ground just dangled there i was in reverse hammering the gas with a friend pulling me with his tractor an he noticed it, why did it not spin both wheels? any info would help. an if your going to say :you shouldnt go mudding thatll fix it" dont bother answering.

You have a 2.3 or 2.5.... But your tire was not spinning because you have an open dif. Which means the tire that loses traction will spin... Just how its made..

This! I would only ever have a Wrangler as a toy. They are WAY too small, unless you wanna shell out 30k for an Unlimited. Then you have a Ranger's wheel base anyways.

Yeah Its more of a safety thing. Because once one tire loses traction it will spin and allow the other to rotate freely which, in turn, will give you traction. Its like trying to turn with your brakes locked up, you will just keep going. So if both tires are spinning. You have no hope.

On a different note 2WD Mudding is the bomb. That fear of getting stuck yet bombing like you are a boss. keep your speed up and your rpms high. Until you hit deep sand, then.... well you can let your tires down to about 8 psi and just creep your way out. (I lived on cape cod.... the tricks you learn) like creep like shuttering almost stalling on you. haha

If you don't like it you can weld your rear end together and hop around corners. =D

Yeah, I would never weld a diff on a street ride, just asking for a broken axle. I wonder if they make a detroit locker for that rear end.

I'll never understand what makes you 2wd guys want to go mudding. You know what's going to happen...

I never understand why you have a negative comment about everything anyone says or does on this forum.
