That's a common mod for people tired of their vacuum hubs

i don't like the looks of that mod, i got the AVM hubs for my truck, pretty easy install, pull the old ones off, push the new ones on, they work great, although i know if i lift it high and put big tires on it they will prob break easily, sometime i will have to look into a warn conversion kit

will that mod cause problems for the hubs or anything, now or later on?

AVM manual hubs. They aren't all that strong though. Manual hub swap. Available here.

You can always lock the stock ones in permanently. How to lock vacuum hubs

even the mileage loss is hardly measurable with them locked all the time. the 2001+ are live axle, meaning there are no hubs that disengage, it spins all the time. never had an issue with mine.

i love the KM2's, the best tire ive ever had! my mileage dropped a couple MPG's when i went to 33's but i swapped in 4:56 gears and got nearly all my mileage back.
