Default Replacing a clutch, transfer case?

I have a 1997 Ranger XLT 4x4, and I'm planning on buying a clutch kit tomorrow and replacing it on sunday. My dad is concerned about the 4x4 transfer case getting in the way. Is replacing it pretty self explanatory or is the transfer case going to get in the way? And for people who have done this, what unexpected problems might i run into along the way (not necessarily related to the transfer case)?

Sorry if this has been posted, I didn't see anything. Cheers!

I would pull the transfer case before pulling the transmission. Soooo much easier and lighter to pull. I believe it's six bolts and the driveshafts to upbolt it from the transmission. Unbolt the top panel in the cab to get to the top bolts.

As for the clutch, get a motorcraft or centerforce clutch...havent had good luck with chaper brands in the past. Make sure everything's balanced correctly and you should be good to go.

Good luck!

When we did mine years ago it was before I was on the forum and we found instructions online 'cause the ones in the box sucked. We did not pull the transfer case first but I think we probably should have.
